Background
Dean has served as a member of Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, as Chairman of the Provo Youth Services Board, Utah County United Way Executive Board, Co-Chairman Utah Valley State College Community-Relations Council, member of the SLOC 2002 Winter Olympics Interfaith Roundtable, Advisory Board member and Board member for the Community Mediation Center, Chairman of the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center’s Provo Community Outreach Council, Chairman of the Community Dispute Resolution Services Board of Directors, and as a member of the IHC Urban South Region Board Community Outreach Committee. In 2009-2010 Dean served on the Transition Team member for Provo Mayor Elect John Curtis. Dean has received numerous awards including the Mayor’s Medal for outstanding service from Provo City, The Beyond Excellence, the Special Award of Merit from Chief of Police Greg Cooper, the 2002 Provo Mayor’s Award in the Humanities, the IHC Beacon of Hope Award, and Rotary International’s Four Avenues of Service Citation. In 2004 Dean received the Utah International Association of Business Communicators and the Utah Public Relations Society of America’s Communicator of the Year Award.
