Michelle Oldroyd presented on Utah Code - Title 78B - Chapter 10 - Utah Uniform Mediation Act. Ms. Oldroyd indicated this act came out of a local and national movement. The most recent update to the act, which was in 2009, was intended to govern every aspect of mediation both in the courts and in private practice; an exception by name is "collective bargaining."
The remainder of the meeting was spent on lively discussion regarding the interpretation and information contained in this act.
Workplace Section Minutes:
The first meeting of the current Workplace Section of UCCR took place on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Darren Rogers, newly elected Workplace Section Chairperson, conducted the meeting.
In addition to Mr. Rogers, the following individuals were present for the meeting: Chris Wilson, Pamela Pannier, David Martinez, Natalie Threlkeld and Cindy March.
As Chair, Mr. Rogers indicated he wants there to be an additional "take away" for individuals who join the Workplace Section of UCCR. Following some discussion, attendees expressed their support for a Workplace Section service project.
The agenda meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Institute of Advanced Mediation, 201 South Main Street, 14th Fl., SLC, UT 84111 will focus on the following:
